Maria Åström has a long career as a textile designer and trained at Beckman's design school in Stockholm in the late 1960s. She started by printing her designs herself but now she has a collaboration with Ljungbergs. Her motifs are taken directly from nature and she studies them carefully, every last detail. Reproducing the motif perfectly is not the goal as she thinks the perfect can be boring. It can be the small detail that makes the pattern interesting.
She shares her life both in Stockholm and in Simrishamn in Skåne.
